MSRP: $10.95 USD The USS Lexington was lost during the Battle of the Coral Sea. Never before have you been afforded the opportunity to build any or all of the aircraft of a single carrier. Yellow Wings Decals has remedied that. Using the Accurate Miniatures kit, you can make any one of 36 aircraft. It isn’t just about being able to make any one of these yellow wing jewels - it is the amount of research that went into the preparation. The instruction sheets break down the contract number and which aircraft was assigned to which bureau number and which squadron. There are separate instruction sheets for each squadron. These cover the aircraft markings and give you a drawing to demonstrate the accurate colors and marking placement. There is a block of suggested paints to use. This is not your normal “here is the Testors paint line”, it actually shows the closest to the colors regardless of manufacturer. The recommended paints include six Testors, one Tamiya and one Gunze color. Using this sheet along with sheet 48-013, which has the unit markings, you can literally represent all the aircraft in both squadrons. There are two decal sheets printed in white and black. One has all the bureau numbers with extra aircraft numbers. The other is the standard sheet that includes the individual aircraft numbers, US Navy markings, and the “E” for excellence markings. Microscale prints the decals so they will respond well with the Microsol and Microset system of decal setting. The printing is first rate, opaque, thin, and in perfect register. If you have the Accurate Miniatures kit and you want to build any plane from the bombing or scouting squadron on the Lexington then this sheet is a must. I highly recommend these decals.
