MSRP: $10.00 USD The F-117A is not noted for its flamboyant paint schemes, but Twobobs manages to have a decal sheet that will, in fact, add some color to your stealth fighter model. These decals offer a variety of markings for aircraft based at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. There are enough extra serial numbers to model almost any of the fighters from the 7th, 8th, or 9th Fighter Squadrons. The instruction sheet is what we have come to expect from Twobobs, with its excellent color side views and other views showing markings on the upper and lower surfaces. There are also several smaller photos of actual aircraft useful for detailing, as well as decal placement. An added bonus is a brief paragraph with a recommendation for weathering your model. The decals themselves are excellent. They are right on register and opaque. I applied some of the tail markings to a Testors F-117 kit and they fit perfectly. To see how they would react, I applied a couple of markings to the bare plastic. The result was no silvering as was the case for those applied over a base coat of Future Floor Wax. I added some of Gunze’s Mr. Surfacer over a decal on a seam to see what would happen and it snuggled down nicely with no adverse effect on the decal. Finally, the red and yellow squadron markings are applied over white base decals to maintain their color. Another nice touch. This particular sheet has an interesting story of “Vega 31,” the F-117 shot down over Yugoslavia during combat operations in 1999. The narrative includes an explanation of the radar and missile systems involved in the downing of this stealth fighter. This is another well designed and executed decal sheet from Twobobs and one I highly recommend to add some color and variety to your stealth kit.
