The release of Hasegawa’s 1/48 AV-8B Harrier has the jet modeling world buzzing in anticipation of adding an up to date Harrier model to their collections.  The problem is there was only a couple of out of date and out of production Superscale sheets to add to it.  The old Superscale sheets also did not cover the latest Harrier schemes or combat tours.  Twobobs comes to the rescue with the release of 48-075 AV-8B NA/Super Harriers of VMA-223 and VMA-311.

There are five options on the sheet with all of them appearing in the FS36118 over FS36320 and FS36231 scheme.  Four out of the five ships carry a dark grey shark mouth on the nose which looks great on the Harrier if I may say so myself.  Three of the Bulldog jets also have an overall gunship grey nose cone.  For low visibility jets the markings on these OIF Harriers are surprisingly striking.  Three of the VMA-223 Bulldog jets have sunburst tail markings.  Two of them have the sunburst on the rudder only while the third has the entire tail painted.  The VMA-311 jet is a wicked looking devil sort of cat on the tail.

The decal sheet itself is actually two full sheets of markings and stencils.  The main sheet has the appropriate markings for four of the five jets, while the second sheet contains the markings for the VMA-311 jet and stencils and national markings taking up the rest of the sheet.  In all you can build three complete jets from this sheet.  The slime lights are very well done.  Each of the jets also has a separate canopy detonating chord decal included.  I am curious to see how that looks applied.  As usual with Twobobs decals, there is very little film visible and my entire sample sheet is within register.  The instruction sheet is quite concise and contains photos of the actual jets to be modeled along with a small list of accessories available for your Harrier models.

A quick note on OIF Harrier load outs.  Typically OIF missions included four jets with two aircraft carrying Litening II and the other two carrying strictly GBUs.

The Litening II load-out: No Aim-9s and no gun pods, Station 5 Litening II, Stations 2/6 wing tanks, station 3 GBU-16 or GBU-12.

Non Litening II load-out: No Aim-9s and no gun pods, Station 3/5 wing tanks, Station 2/6 GBU-12 or GBU-16.

So there you have it, a new and comprehensive decal sheet for your new Hasegawa Harrier II.  Twobobs has and continues to bring out new and exciting subjects for builders of modern jets in all scales.  My thanks to Bob Sanchez of Twobobs Aviation Graphics for the review sample.  Twobobs decals can be ordered directly at www.twobobs.net.
