Tally Ho!

RAF Code Letters 24” & 30”

Reviewed By Floyd S. Werner, Jr. #26266

For years RAF enthusiast have not been able to find the proper size or shape of code letters and were forced to wait until decal manufactures did the machine they wanted or they had to cut and mask their own letters, well that time is over.  Tally Ho! out of the Czech Republic, has produced three sheets that fill this niche and make RAF codes infinitely easier.  Tally Ho! has released three different sheet sets, grey (48 010), sky (48 011), and dull red (48 012).  Each of these sheets gives you three sheets per package, one of 24” letters, one of 30” letters, and one sheet with 8” serial numbers and letters.  All the letters are provided in the most popular shapes and configurations, including the 8” type.  You should be able to replicate most squadron codes used by the RAF.  The decals are very, very thin and are very “sticky”.  A hint for working with them is when applying them use a little bit of spit on the model to position the decals.  The saliva allows you to position them as needed.  The decals adhere real well and they react well with all setting solutions.  They are opaque and settle down exceptionally well.  If I had to find a problem with the decals it would be that there are no 24” or 30” numbers supplied to do 2nd TAF markings.  There may be some coming in the future (speculation on my part), besides the decals are labelled Code Letters not Numbers.  I couldn’t find anything wrong with the decals.

I highly recommend the decals.  They will allow you to model almost any aircraft the RAF used, especially the fighter types.  They are available through their website at www.tallyho.cz and cost $7.00 each.

Thanks to Tally-Ho! for the review samples.
