MSRP: $11.98 (ST32051V1), $18.98 (52 & 53) USD To dress up those big beautiful Tamiya kits, HobbyDecal has produced three sets of stencils for the 1/32 scale F-15. Set ST32051V1 is a set of panel numbers applicable to both the C and E versions. Set ST32052V1 is a complete set of stencils for the F15-E Strike Eagle, and ST32053V1 is a complete set of stencils for the F-15C. A general comment about all three: these are not decals, they are dry transfers. They do not need a gloss clear coat to be applied. They are positioned and rubbed into place and then overcoated with a clear coat. There are instructions and tips with each package on how to apply and clear coat them. One distinct advantage is that they cannot silver. They are somewhat more fragile in some respects and once in place, they cannot be moved. The directions are excellent and the print quality of all three is phenomenal. Set ST32051V1 consists of all the panel numbers for one F-15 aircraft. What the sheet consists of is around 600 sets of numbers that are located on F-15’s to indicate which panels are which. The printing is less than a millimeter high. It is perfectly legible and sharp and also includes the appropriate numbers for the pylons. Two very excellent sets of drawings are included. The first is for F-15A-C versions (no CFT) and the second is the F-15E with the CFT. Both include excellent location information and clear drawings. Set ST32052V1 is a complete stencil set for the F-15E Strike Eagle. This does not include specific marking such as tail codes, nose art, squadron marking- it is a set of stencils. It does include national markings for the wings and fuselage, all warnings, “no step” and “no push” markings and many other assorted stencils so prevalent on modern aircraft. The sheet is beautifully printed in multiple colors. Also included are the anti collision lights in a nicely subdued color. Also included is a great sheet showing the locations of all the stenciling. Last but not least, is sheet ST32053V1 which is for the single set F-15C Eagle. It is the same great quality as the sheet for the “E” version with the same great attention to detail. In summary, WOW! As a fan of the F-15 and a fan of the 1/32 scale Tamiya kits, these will make a great addition/detail to the kits. It will be a different process but the fact that they can’t silver is what sells me on them. I know it is one of my main problems especially with the small stenciling and this is an excellent way around the problem. Look for an upcoming build on the Eagle to use these.
