With the release of the 1/32nd scale Bf-109G-10 from Hasegawa, and the Type 110 Conversions from Eagle Editions and Cutting Edge, it was only a matter of time before modelers would look for colorful ways to mark them.  One thing about the Bf-109 is the never-ending markings and color variations.

Eagle Editions’ latest release depicts four aircraft from four different units.  Printed by Microscale, the decals are perfectly in register, typically well researched, thin, and should respond well with setting solutions.  They are depicted on two decal sheets; one sheet that contains the individual markings, and the other with all the stencil and national markings to do one airplane.

There is something for everyone on this sheet.  The first aircraft is from JG52.  A very colorful machine with a black and red checkerboard RVD tail band.  The RLM 74/75 paint scheme is over sprayed in late war colors to provide a unique look.  Provided to JG52 from KG(J)6, this aircraft has never been done before in any scale.  Jerry cites a color photo in his collection for this machine.  We can only hope to see it soon in a future book from Eagle Editions.

The next aircraft is the machine of Horst Petzschler, in which he landed by "mistake" in Sweden.  This aircraft has the smaller wing bulges. Painted in a RLM 75/83 with heavy weathering, this aircraft is documented very well.

For those of you after something completely different, try "White 44" from NJG11.  It is an all RLM76 airplane.  You are thinking boring, but you would be wrong.  The things that make this airplane interesting are the different things such as a rear view mirror, larger exhaust shields on both sides, smaller wing bulges and a cut out in the canopy.  If that isn't enough, this aircraft also had an ETC rack for carrying bombs.  It is well illustrated in the Eagle Editions book "Augsburg's Last Eagles", by Brett Green.

The final airplane is very colorful.  It depicts a G-10 from JG300 as "Green 4" with a light blue-white-light blue RVD band.  It also has the unit emblem on the nose.  Painted in RLM 75/83 with a segmented spinner, this aircraft will look great in model form.

I highly recommend this sheet.

I would like to thank Eagle Editions for the review copy.  The decals can be ordered from their website at www.eagle-editions.com or by calling them at 1-800-255-1830.
