MSRP: $9.00 USD for 1/72 & 1/48 scale $10.50 USD for 1/32 scale Following the release of Hasegawa’s 1/32 scale Bf 109K-4, Jerry Crandall’s Eagle Editions has released several colorful and thoroughly researched decal options to enhance the kit under the EagleCals line. Researched and designed by Eagle Editions and printed by Microscale, each of these sets of sheets includes markings for 4 separate aircraft. And they are sets of sheets. 2 full sheets are included, one consisting of the larger Balkenkreuze and aircraft numbers, and one full sheet each of stencil data, Hakenkreuze, and smaller Balkenkreuze markings. Each package contains a large (11 x 17”), foldout full-color paint guide which includes an example of each plane, and a stencil in 1/72, 1/48, and 1/32 scale for the modeler to cut out and airbrush on a “field-applied” unit designator. Along the bottom of each guide is a color chip of the RLM colors for matching. Turn the painting guide over, and the modeler is presented with a brief synopsis of the Bf 109K, and historical information of each aircraft, including pilot (when known), era, staffel, notes on colors/stenciling/national markings, and other pertinent data. The right side consists of 3-view line drawings of the machine, to be used as a guide for applying the decals. Markings for the following aircraft are provided:
Although my sample was the 1/32 scale issue, as noted above these markings are available for 1/48 and 1/72 scales. Another outstanding product from Eagle Editions, and one that I must recommend to the discerning Luftwaffe modeler.
