MSRP: $11.50 USD Eagle Editions latest release is for the new 1/32nd Hasegawa FW-190F-8. If you are looking for something different, there is something on this sheet for everyone. The FW-190F-8 had some very colorful markings and camouflage applied to them. Eagle Editions provides two sheets of instructions. The first is the normal two-fold instruction sheet with color profiles of side and top views. On the inside of this sheet are the written instructions and the line drawings showing the proper position of the stencils. Then comes the thing that sets EagleCals apart from the rest, there is a sheet that includes photos of each aircraft. This means that if you can’t afford the reference books you are not forsaken. With the included photos you can interpret the colors and the density of the camouflage for yourself. The decal themselves are represented on two decal sheets. The first sheet has the individual aircraft markings. The other sheet has the aircraft stencils and national markings. The four aircraft represented on this sheet shows the variety of paints used by the Luftwaffe. The first aircraft is an aircraft from Luftflotte 4 “Yellow 2”. It is unique in its lack of mottling and the primer coated rudder. It also sports a yellow cowl ring that is representative of Luftflotte 4. This is a very colorful choice. The second aircraft is from the Stab I/SG 4. Sporting the pretty typical RLM 74/75/76 scheme this aircraft has partial overspray of RLM 83. What is unique is the aircraft number which is contained in German quote marks “Green 7”. This aircraft does not have the ETC50 racks on the wings. Often overlooked the FW-190F-8 participated in Italy painted in the “desert” colors of RLM 79/80. It just looks weird for a FW-190 to be painted up this way. A 109, no problem, but a Focke Wulf? Here is where the provided photo is handy. On top of the unique paint scheme is the fact that the swastika and the upper wing markings are over-painted. What more inspiration do you need? The final aircraft is a strange airplane. It was actually built as an A-8 but was then converted to F-8 configuration. This aircraft sports some colorful markings on top of the late war 75/83 paint scheme. The original markings of “Red 7” are over-painted with a “Yellow 11”. On top of that the tail and the cowl ring are in yellow. Which makes this my favorite of the sheet. Microscale prints the decals. The register is perfect, and they are opaque and thin. Because Microscale makes them they will react well with the Microscale setting solutions. For the research, photos, and the quality of decals EagleCals are hard to beat, highly recommended.
