| I have always thought the rocket powered Me-163 was an interesting subject. I mean who wouldn’t want to strap themselves to a rocket, scream skyward to intercept bombers and then have to glide all the way back to the ground and skid to a landing? Cutting Edge has released set CED48259 that includes decals and painting instructions for 6 different Me-163 color schemes as well as 1 for the Me-163S trainer version. The decals are perfectly registered and very colorful. I included a picture of the color schemes. The instructions are superb. There are full side views with color schemes called out with RLM numbers. A separate written comment sheet relates to each scheme and also calls out the differences between each one including antenna configurations, primer patches, and other information needed to build an accurate kit. On the back of this comment sheet is instructions for applying the decals and also a FS595 cross reference that specifies the specific paint to use for each color. |

Now for the fun part and the real test for each which is application. I had a DML Me-163 two-seat trainer around so I built it, painted it with Gunze and Model Master paints in the scheme for the Russian post war test plane and glossed it with Floquil Crystal Cote. The decals went of perfectly and nestled down well into the deep tails lines with an application of the Micro Sol system. The Russian stars are two parts with a red star being applied over white. No silvering at all was found and that is a great feeling. I also included a shot of the Me-163. Did I like these? Loved them! Cutting Edge (Meteor Productions decal line) has consistently come out with great decals and this set is no different. Great subjects, great color options and great application properties.
