Following the release of Hasegawa’s “New-Tool” 1/32 Focke-Wulf FW-190A-8, Meteor Productions has produced several sheets of decals under their “Cutting Edge” line to compliment the new kit.

“FW 190s Part 1” includes decals for “Blue 13” as flown by high-scoring Experten  MAJ Walter Dahl (Stab/JG 300) at the end of ‘44, and “Black 10” as assigned to 2./JG 11 in 1945.

The sheets comprising my sample are in perfect register, as one would expect from this company.  Researched from original photos, the sheets do not include the Home Defense bands, which will be painted by the modeler.  Some stenciling is provided, but for full stenciling the kit’s sheet will need to be sourced.

Dahl’s ship is presented in the RLM 74/75/76 daylight scheme, and the “gunsight” roundrel on the cowling comes as a pair.  Believed to have been applied for a wartime propaganda photo shoot (Fraüline Lulubelle!?) showing the port side, the insignia also has a blue background circle provided as an option, although there are historically different opinions on this matter of accuracy.  “Black 10” is presented in a 75/76 scheme.

Cutting Edge has provided the modeler with aircraft-specific notes to aid the modeler, as well as full-color painting guides and a color cross-reference listing (standard for CE decal products).  These decal sheets are $8.99 and available from Meteor Productions.

Highly recommended, particularly as an excuse to buy more big-scale Focke-Wulfs!  My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions for providing the review samples, and to John Noack for providing the review opportunity.
