This is only one of what looks like about 20 volumes devoted to Luftwaffe Colors, from 1935 to 1945.  Each volume is between $25 and $30 for approximately 100 pages.  The text is pretty easy reading covering operations and personnel of the various fighter squadrons of the Luftwaffe, in this particular case, covering 1943 and 1944 up to just prior to the Normandy invasion.  The highlight of the publication is, of course, the color profiles of 17 Fw-190 and 8 Bf-109s.

There is coverage of some rather interesting experiments with weapons and armaments.  One is a test of under wing mounted 21 cm mortar tubes, firing to the rear.  In a ground test it seriously split the flaps and trailing edge of the wing of an Fw 190.  I suppose it didn’t take long to see that it wasn’t a good idea.

I can recommend this publication but only if you have a diehard interest in Luftwaffe history.  Much of the history information has been well covered in other works and the color and markings information is subject to photo interpretation.

Thanks to the folks at Specialty Press for providing this volume and John Noack and the IPMS/USA Reviewer Corps. for allowing me the opportunity to review it.
