Most people think of the Luftwaffe’s bomber fleet as only being the He-111, Do-17, and the Ju-88, but there are a lot more aircraft than these stalwarts.  Classic Publications’ latest release covers the Luftwaffe bomber fleet during its most colorful period.  The bombers and their operations are well illustrated with large clear photographs and some great color profiles.

The night bomber offensive against England produced some unique and colorful machines.  Development of the He-177 is covered in detail, as well as the little known Ju-86.  The color profiles of the Ju-188s are some of the finest looking aircraft and are inspirational to the modeler.

The Eastern Front bombers are covered as well.  There are some wonderful color photos of bombers with some great detail for the modeler who likes to weather his aircraft.  Some are so dirty they would be laughed off the judging table.  There are white washed aircraft, as well as, the typical bomber markings.

Some of the most colorful aircraft are in the Mediterranean theater of operations.  If it is squiggles, typical greens, or an overall RLM 79 there is something here for you.  If that isn’t enough some have black bottoms and others have RLM 65 bottoms and still others have dark squiggles.  So many paint schemes, and so many models to build.

For those who just bought the Trumpeter FW-200, there is a chapter on anti-shipping operations with some great photos and color profiles featuring the FW-200.  Guided missiles are covered in this section.

If you are looking for inspiration for a model then this book is as far as you need to look.  This book, and the others in this series, is a wonderful addition to any library, but it is required for any Luftwaffe enthusiast.  It is an essential research tool for the modeler.  The Luftwaffe modeler will love the color profiles and large photos.  The historian will like the text.  Whichever you are, you will not be disappointed in any book of the series.  If you haven’t checked out the series this book is a great place to start.  I highly recommended this book and the entire series.
