When I say German bomber automatically you think of the He-111.  That sleek looking nose of all glass, which must have afforded the pilot a great view of the Spitfires during the Battle of Britain.  Originally conceived as a high-speed passenger plane, the He-111 evolved into a terror bomber.  In production before the war until the final days of the war the He-111 has come to symbolize the Luftwaffe bomber force.

This latest edition of the Black Cross series continues the excellent research that the other volumes have.  The book is of similar format as the rest of the series in that it is a softbound 8 ½ x 11 book.  From the production line to the battlefront the He-111 is covered with photographs, line drawings and tables.  The reproductions from the actual manuals used in WWII are very clear and the information found inside this book is an excellent resource for the historian or modeler.

The early versions, especially the airliner version, of the He-111 are often overlooked.  This book covers everything from the prototypes, including the Lufthansa aircraft, up to the He-111 Zwilling.  The airliner people will enjoy the interior shots of actual Lufthansa aircraft.  The modeler will find the pictures of the engines, props, instrument panels and the breakdown of the interior to be extremely valuable.  The super detailer will love the drawings from the original wartime manuals.  As a one-stop source of information on the He-111, this book is a bargain.  The photographs, over 140, are beautifully reproduced and provide excellent information.  I especially enjoyed the He-111Z in flight photos, what a beast.

This book, as with the rest of the series, is highly recommended.  It contains data that I have not found in other places and also brings details together from numerous other sources.
