B-36 Photo Scrapbook

by Dennis R. Jenkins, Mike More, and Don Pyeatt

Reviewed By John R. Lee, #11172

Dennis Jenkins has previously written among several books, Magnesium Overcast, The Story of the Convair B-36 and in their research and collection of photos, diagrams, and miscellaneous charts etc they acquired much more than could be used in Magnesium Overcast. The end result came out again in the historians and modeler’s favor with another fine book on the B-36.  This book is printed on high quality glossy paper stock with card covers. In the One Hundred Eight pages there are over Three Hundred very sharp b/w and seventy-four color photos with amazing detail of the many configurations that the B-36 ended up in. There also dozens of great drawings of various components of the aircraft. Very interesting is the series of photos of the damage done by a tornado on Labor Day 1 September 1952 to the aircraft at Carswell AFB. There is very little text other than the introduction and the captions vary from short to in-depth detail. If a modeler wanted to open up the 1/72nd Monogram Kit and detail it inside and out this is the book to aid your endeavors. There are several pictures included of the various experiments of the Tom-Tom, FICONs, XC-99, NB-36H and the conversion to a YB-60.

The B-36 Photo Scrapbook can be obtained for $16.95 directly from Specialty Press by calling 1-800-895-4585 or by visiting www.specialtypress.com. A $4.95 shipping and handling charge is added to each order.
