This recent title from the team that brings us the Reichdreams Dossiers isn’t really a book, its actually three books in one.  And rather than being a “reading” book it is a compendium of useful information.  As such, this is one of those books that Luftwaffe enthusiasts will want to keep handy.  Despite its origins, this 200-page, comb-bound book covers a lot broader ground than the usual Luftwaffe ’46 subjects that Miranda and Mercado produce.

Book one is titled the “Reichdreams Technical Data Tables” and as this suggests, is a compilation of various data tables, including for example, electronics and electronic warfare devices, cameras, guided missiles, bombs, explosive filling codes, and numerous other subjects.  Although none of the information is new, it is nice to have it all in tabular form.

Book two is called “Reichdreams Guide of German Codenames” and is an alphabetical dictionary of 3000 German technical terms and codenames from A to Zypresse.  This covers anything Luftwaffe; for example, “A” is listed as indicating the Geschwader Stab, a rocket produced by the HVP, a ground device (fixed) and standing for AEG.  There are also useful tables on Luftwaffe color codes and Ordnance codes.

Book three is the “Reichdreams Series Index” and is the least useful part of this compendium.  This is simply a list of advanced Luftwaffe types in alphabetical order.  No other information is given, and no indication of which issue of the Reichdreams Dossiers more details can be found, so all in all, this is a puzzling addition to the book.  At the back is a table of Nicknames of German Planes, and this is quite useful.

Not one for the casual Luftwaffe modeler admittedly, but will be useful for those who build Luftwaffe aircraft on a regular basis, therefore I can recommend this book to those with more than a passing fancy for German subjects.

This book is available from Justo Miranda at $50 plus postage.  More details and ordering information are available at their website; www.luft46.com/rd/rdreams.html.  My thanks to Justo for supplying the sample review book.
