The ‘black jet’ programs are the most intriguing developments in American aviation history.  AIRTime Publishing has assembled a book that covers four of the programs in one place.  Aircraft covered are the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, Lockheed Martin F-117, the Lockheed Blackbirds and the Lockheed U-2R/S.

The book is based on four reports first published in the 1990's in other AIRTime publications; World Air Power Journal and Wings of Fame.  New information has been added including upgrades and combat reports from Operations Allied Force, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.  In addition, two appendices are included that cover the D-21 drone and Preserved Aircraft where examples of all four covered aircraft are preserved for display.

Once again, this book measures up to AIRTime’s usual high standards.  Lots of high quality color and black and white photos.  Highly detailed artwork and in-depth analysis all printed on heavy gloss art paper.  Several of the photos have not been published previously and many new bits of information have been included throughout.  Lots of details shots and explanations that will assist the modeler in creating any version of the aircraft described.  The section on the D-21 Drone is very interesting in that much of the info has not been published before.  And also goes into the missions where drones were carried by B-52 bombers.  The guide for preserved aircraft is very handy to the traveler who wishes to include these aircraft in their air history sight seeing.

Overall this is a great book of four very important aircraft.  This title is available through Specialty Press by calling 1-800-895-4585 or visiting their web site www.specialtypress.com.  Their price is $34.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling.  A great deal for such a wealth of information.  This title is recommended highly!
