As you probably have read, Dave Lockhart has resigned from the role of President as of October 31, 2023.  In accordance with the duties of the First Vice President, I accepted the role of President until the end of the next term.

To replace me in my previous position I nominated John Noack to once again take on the responsibilities of the First Vice President.  He accepted and the Eboard approved his appointment.

I want to thank thank Dave for his time and efforts on the Eboard and look forward to seeing him in Madison next year.  I hope to see many of you there as well.

If you have questions or concerns, please email me at IPMSPresident@ipmsusa.org.

While I didn't run for this position...

Effective Oct 31st, I will be resigning as president of IPMS/USA.  While this has been a difficult decision for me, I have though on this for a while and feel it would be best for myself and IPMS/USA.  While I have thoroughly enjoyed most of the past two years.  There have been situations out of my control and others where I should have displayed more control.  Perhaps my leadership skills are not what is needed now.

My days of tilting at windmills are over and I’m looking forward to getting back to the joy of building models.

I cannot thank you all enough for the support you’ve given me over these past two years.  There will be lots of exciting things happening at IPMS/USA.  I will still be a proud member and be around, just not...

Sexual Harassment

There have been several posts on other social media sites concerning an incident of sexual harassment at an IPMS/USA event.

Let me reiterate in the strongest wording that IPMS/USA has not and will not condone any such behavior.  The board takes these issues very seriously and will address them immediately.

In this incident the individual responsible what immediately dismissed from IPMS/USA and is not allowed to attend our national convention.

What about local shows?  Local model clubs, even those that are affiliates of IPMS/USA, are separate legal entities that the National Organization does not control.  IPMS/USA does not have the power to tell these legal...

To the Membership of IPMS/USA and the hobby community,

The appearance of impropriety or questionable integrity is unacceptable in any sector of this organization. The IPMS Executive Board will work diligently to fix those issues when they arise.

We owe the membership more details on the matter than were included in our September 19 statement. More information has come to light in the interim, prompting us to revisit the Category 608 judging incident reported at the 2023 IPMS National Contest. As a result, three senior judges involved in this matter will be suspended from participation in the IPMS/USA National Contest judging corps. They may choose on their own to present themselves for consideration as supervised OJT judges for retraining in the...

Our annual national convention is one of the highlights of being a member of IPMS/USA. This year our convention was held in San Marcos, Texas, and it was a great success.

One of the key reasons modelers from all over the world attend is to take part in our national contest. This year there were over 3,100 models entered by 400 modelers in over 200 categories. While the competition is fierce, there is a strong comradery among all the modelers who participate, whether as contestants, judges, or simply as admirers of the amazing skills and talent on display.

The NCC (National Contest Committee) runs the contest with the help of the sponsoring chapter. The NCC trains and recruits the judges for contest from the entire IPMS/USA membership. There are over 300 judges. In the...

Social media has been full of discussions regarding “IPMS judging” following this summer’s wonderful IPMS/USA National Convention in San Marcos.  These social media and IPMS Discussion Forum debates are not new; judging has always been a topic that brings out the passion in modelers. There is always fervent support on either side of whatever judging issue is being discussed.  We want you to know we are listening and appreciate and are inspired by your passion for the hobby, and any constructive feedback.

As an example, in response to feedback from the membership the Executive Board voted unanimously to swiftly address the issue of judges handling models during contest evaluation a few days ago.  This practice will no longer be allowed as a part...
