I built 50% of this kit over 15 years ago. Eventually, the box was too large to ignore. This is what I always wanted to do to my real E Type.

This kits ’reputation’ didn’t disappoint: I see it as a vintage toy kit that always wanted to be a ‘presentable’ scale model. Despite the many challenges, there are a few master modelers who do museum grade builds of this kit. They represent my inspiration for this attempt.

Examples of the challenges I encountered:

  • The large front windscreen has a rectangular cut out at top center? Perhaps to fit the windscreen with the rear view mirror already fitted? The right angles of this cut out are at the greatest tension point of this part…crazing and usually causes cracking of the windscreen. I had just finished the model...

Welcome our new Region 11 Coordinator, Bruce Drummond Sr. Bruce is a long time modeler. His IPMS/USA odyssey started in Long Island in the 80’s. He migrated (as many northerners do) to the West Palm Beach are in FL and was involved in many chapters there. He was instrumental in creating the South Florida Scale Model Consortium in West Palm Beach in 2012.

His first of many nationals was in 2008 in Virginia as well as his first experience in judging. He was the head judge for the Miscellaneous Category in Phoenix.

We are glad Bruce stepped forward to help out Region 11 and look forward to working with him.

  • DL requested a tally of which Executive Board members will be attending the National Convention in Omaha this summer.  All board members confirmed that they will be in attendance.
  • MO/DL/RB confirmed that we had received IRS required Conflict of Interest from all but one board member, and one RC.  (Both individuals forms have been received and posted to the archives in the interim.)  Dave indicated that future policy requires these forms to be turned around within 30 days.

To All IPMS/USA Members,

Many of us are shocked and saddened by the conflict in Ukraine. Just over a month ago Ukrainians were living their lives in peace and suddenly their cities are being destroyed, fellow citizens are dying, and many are fleeing for safety in bordering countries. Truly tragic and unnecessary.

Ukraine is the home of many great model companies. I’ve received several emails from IPMS/USA members asking how they can help not only these modeling companies but also those in need in Ukraine.

How can we help? There are many ways. You can contribute individually, as a chapter or in the case of the folks from Red River Modelers, at their RiverCon-2022 show from which they donated 10% ($532) of their proceeds to Samaritans Purse (...

  • Dave is going to research where our IPMS/USA charter document is located
  • Kudos to Mike Oberholtzer for spearheading the Wild Apricot integration efforts with the National Convention registration team.
  • Asked for concerted effort to get the membership records updated to help keep the Journal going out to the membership on time.
  • Dave initiated a discussion regarding IPMS/USA’s liability insurance.  We need to re-evaluate our coverages to include major catastrophe (i.e. covid, etc.)  Rob to work with Dave to research the requirements.
