The 2012 IPMS National Convention will be held August 8th thru 11th at the Convention Center at Disney's Contemporary Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
As part of the US Navy Aviation Centennial celebration the San Diego chapter of IPMS and the Coronado Public Library teamed up for a Make 'n Take on July 23rd, 2011. The Library's curator, Candice Hooper supported the event with space, setup, shipping, supplies and a host of other items, including pizza for lunch! IPMSSD provided eight volunteers, and all of them were kept busy. Revell provided models and IPMS Junior Coordinator provided guidance. The models were Revell Snaptite 1:72 scale F-14 Tomcats, in keeping with the Centennial theme. Our sincerest thanks to Revell for the support.
The doors opened at 11:00 AM, and over the next three hours, forty kits were constructed and taken home. Most of the participants were boys, but there were a few girls and also special needs...
read more...I would like to thank IPMS for the great contribution to Red River Scale Modeler’s first ever make & take event. We must also thank the East Grand Forks Campbell library for taking an interest in our beloved hobby and asking us to host the event as part of “Professor Marvel’s - Marvel’s at the Library” summer activities program. We had initially agreed on 32 attendants. Upon registering kids, the event was bumped up to 40 attendants with a waiting list! We had two rooms set up with models - one for 20 kids ages 6-8 (kindergarten to 2nd grade) and the other with 20 kids ages 9-11 (third to fifth grade). Fortunately, the library has employees and youth volunteers that were able to assist with the younger crowd!
