Sexual Harassment

There have been several posts on other social media sites concerning an incident of sexual harassment at an IPMS/USA event.

Let me reiterate in the strongest wording that IPMS/USA has not and will not condone any such behavior.  The board takes these issues very seriously and will address them immediately.

In this incident the individual responsible what immediately dismissed from IPMS/USA and is not allowed to attend our national convention.

What about local shows?  Local model clubs, even those that are affiliates of IPMS/USA, are separate legal entities that the National Organization does not control.  IPMS/USA does not have the power to tell these legal entities who they may or may not allow to attend their contest.

What we can do is notify the local chapters about any individual who has been dismissed for sexual harassment and strongly urge them not to allow this person to attend their shows.  Knowing the caliber of our membership, I cannot see any reason why they would allow such a person to attend their show.

The board will do all they can to prevent any future incidents of harassment.  Input from the membership is always appreciated.

No one, and I mean no one, should feel uncomfortable or afraid of attending any of our shows, whether it’s a national show or a local show.

Thanks for your understanding.
