Green Dragons
Puyallup, WA Nitto
1/20 Fledermaus kit.
Other than the seatbelts and buckles, it was built straight out of the
box. I have always liked these Nitto kits. I must have like eight Jerrys
in my stash. I painted and marked it as an unknown ground attack fighter.

Scale Revell B-58
This
is my extended fuselage B58 with canard's added. I used two revell
box scale kits. The weapons are from the spares pile. I am retired
from the Air Force and actually worked on B-58A's in the 60's. |

Sword Vultee P-66
This
was a delightful kit to work on, nicely molded and good fit for
the most part. The one big glitch was the landing gear struts,
the only parts I had to manufacture on my own. The struts supplied
would not accommodate the wheels or the brass accessory doors,
so I made my struts out of copper wire and soldered the parts
together, gear doors and all. Two nice canopies were supplied
in case one was ruined but the one I used fit well enough. Except
for the gear the model is almost an "out-of-box" job.
The decals were easy to apply too, with a choice of American,
British, and Chinese markings. |

Revell Lacrosse
Missile (Original Release)
The
model was found already assembled and in a state of disrepair
in an estate sale. The paint and decals were stripped off; the
model was disassembled and cleaned up, and then reassembled.
Research
is important since more often than not one must complete the project
without the benefit of instructions or decals. I've found that
I often receive assistance from other IPMS members by asking for
images of the decal sheets and instructions on the IPMS Forum.
I enjoy restoring such kits, giving classic models another lease
on life, as it were. |

1/72 Airfix Bristol Beaufighter
A
very old and basic kit. I hollowed out the landing and position
lights and filled them with clear sprue. The radar aerials are
short pieces of fine wire. This is a real oldie but goodie from
Airfix. Done in the markings of the 416th Night Fighter Squadron,
Italy, late 1943. |

Hobbyboss MiG-15 bis
I have always wanted to model the MiG-15 bis flown to South Korea
by Lt. No Kum-Sok in 1953. Both the F-86 and the MiG-15 are such
elegant aircraft. Unfortunately, until recently the only choices
in 1/72 were the Dragon/Hobbycraft kits with inaccurate wings
and the ancient Kopro kit cast in brittle Cold War plastic.
This
model is the new HobbyBoss kit with the Pavla aftermarket resin
nose/gunbay. The cockpit is also a Pavla after-market item. The
HobbyBoss kit is very well done. My only fault is the speed brakes
can only be displayed in the open position and require major surgery
to close them. The finish is various shades of Alclad II and the
markings are from the OOP Cutting Edge sheet CED72017.
