To all IPMS Members and Chapters: Hello, Bruce Drummond here; I'm the newly appointed Make And Take Coordinator for IPMS/USA. Here's a little background information on me: I'm a retired Long Island Rail Road Conductor of 31+ years and now live in West Palm Beach, Florida. Modeling started for me in the early 1960's when I lived near Aurora Plastics and raided the trash for broken up test kits with my friends. Had and built em' all! When I lived on Long Island I had the good fortune of meeting with and learning from tutelage of members of the LIHSMS. They really “cemented me” back into the hobby. In 1980 I joined an American Civil War re-enactment group and later became Brevet Colonel of a Confederate group on Long Island. I've also done some WWII German Gebirgsjager as a Schutze. I enjoy shooting at the range and reading history. Since moving to Florida, I've joined the Flight 19 Model Club and have been a member for a little over 3 years. Good bunch of guys! I attended my first IPMS/USA Nationals in August of 2008 with other Fl-19 members and deem it lucky to have been awarded 3 third place trophies and 2 honorable mentions, all while swimming with the Sharks! I want to thank the IPMS people for taking a chance on me for the M&T program. For all of you my door is always open for questions and Model information as well as wants. IPMS/USA Chapters continue to conduct a large number Make 'N Take events, and Bruce Drummond has assumed responsibilities for management and development of the MNT program. Dave Morrissette, IPMS/USA 1st VP, retains liaison responsibilities with the IMMA counterpart. Mr. Al Trendle, President, Minicraft Corp is MnT Program Coordinator, and IMMA Chairperson. For info about the program, contact Bruce Drummond. When making a request for kits or supplies for your Junior Event, try to give me at least 30-45 days to get your request to the Model companies that donate to us. Any individual member can make a request, not necessarily a chapter. Also I need your IPMS number, Home mailing address, and Home Phone number. We may not be able to meet all requests. Remember, our IPMS/USA Make and Take program depends on the donations of members and chapters. So please give something whenever you can! Bruce Drummond November 2008 |
